Sorry I haven't updated this in a couple days. Things are going so-so. Yesterday all I ate was a big bowl of penne (half a box's worth) with marinara sauce and parmesan cheese. I'm not sure if that was good or bad.
*NERD ALERT*
I was supposed to study all day yesterday (and night) for my exam this morning but I slacked off. I re-studied the notes for the first 4 chapters that I made, but barely went over the other 2 chapters. While a lot of the information was new, a lot of it was old as well. I'm not sure about other college majors, but in biology, things overlap A LOT. I seriously have learned about the lac operon in 4 classes now. Intro Biology II, genetics, molecular genetics, and now microbiology. I remember though in intro bio I actually skipped over studying it because it was so confusing to me... now I barely have to study it at all because it makes so much sense. But I barely had to study anything forreal for this exam because in this class, the professor gives us a study guide with specific questions and a past exam. The questions on the exam we then take is directly from the study guide and past exam. Only a few questions stand out as completely new.
Tomorrow I have my microbiology lab exam, and I know other people in the class are worried about it, but a lot of the concepts make total sense to me. For you non-science geeks, this lab exam is mostly on what type of tests you can do on bacteria on petri plates and test tubes. It's fun. Right after the exam I'm leaving with Sam for New Jersey/NYC. I'm so nervous!
Anyways, the class schedule for next semester was posted online today, and I'm disappointed with the offerings. I only need to take 4 credits of biology classes to graduate in a 400 level class. I wanted to take Natural History of Vertebrates because it is always offered in the spring, but not this time. So I'm stuck with either evolutionary medicine, advanced human anatomy, immunology, or ecology. All of them are at inopportune times (like middle of the day on MWF, and I would like to avoid MWF classes). But at least ecology is in the morning on MWF, and I can take the accompanying lab for the extra credit hour, to make a total of 4 credits. I'm definately going to take Motivation and Emotion (a psychology class), especially because it might help be understand my binge eating more. Behavioral Neuroscience seems nice, but I can't take it because it overlaps with the ecology lab. I'll probably also take statistics in case whatever program I want to apply to needs it. I just don't want to buy one of those stupid expensive calculators you need for it. I'll also need another class to maintain full-time status to keep my health insurance for a little while longer, so it'll probably be Medical Terminology online.
I'm planning on fasting today. I think it will be easy because I had a Mucinex this morning (contains an ephedrine-like ingredient) and then about an hour later I chugged an energy drink. Good for appetite suppression. I work today 3-9 pm, so that's a good chunk of my day that I can't eat. If anything else interesting happens today, as it's pretty early to write an entry, I'll add to this post.
